Carinthia, Eastern Tyrol and Salzburg, the Hohe Tauern National Park is the largest nature conservation area in the Alps. It is also Austria\u2019s oldest National Park, whose origins date back 100 years: first steps towards creating a conservation area were taken as early as 1913, inspired by America\u2019s Yellowstone National Park (est. in 1872).
